RANGPUR: Teachers and employees of Rokeya University confined their vice-chancellor Prof Dr Nurun Nabi at his office and started a fast-unto-death demanding salary hike and regularization of their jobs.

The demonstrating teachers, staffers also disconnected the power supply line of the VC office since Tuesday morning, said a spot account.

Earlier, teacher started the fast-unto-death programme but 671 teachers-staffers-employees joined the agitation noon to wage their two points demand.

Deprived teachers alleged that they have staged several agitation programme for five months to realize the demand. At one stage, VC professor Dr Nurun Nabi assured the demonstrator to meet up the demands but no effective step yet to be taken. So, we forced to stage the hunger strike confining the VC.

Staffers said the agitation would be continued till there demands are not met.
