DHAKA: Non-MPO teachers and employees staged a rally at city’s Shaheed Minar on Tuesday demanding enlisting their institutions in the Monthly Payment Order (MPO).

The rally started around 11.00am with by Non-MPO institution’s Shikkhak Karmachari Oikya Jote president Professor M Esharat Ali in the chair.

Professor M Esharat Ali said, “We are demanding the initiatives to enlist more than 7000 schools under MPO for a long time, but no initiatives had been seen so far.”

He added, “The government assured the protesters to bring the institutions under MPO, but however, didn’t implement. A total of 1.5 lakh teachers are discharging duties without any salary for a long time.”

Teachers and employees from different non-MPO institutions were present at the rally and expressed hopes that government will consider their demand.
