RUPGANJ, NARAYANGANJ: At least 12 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over illegal gas connection in Rupganj Upazila of the district on Wednesday noon.

Sources said that Golzar Hossain assured villagers of Adhuria to give illegal gas taking Tk20, 000 for each connection while Alam Badsha of Mahana village took Tk40, 000 for each connection.

Centering the matter of taking less money, supporters of Alam attacked Golzar which triggered a fierce clash between their supporters, leaving 12 people injured.

The injured were sent to local hospitals. Meanwhile, police held a man.

Confirming the matter, Rupganj Thana Assistant Sub-inspector Makbul Hossain told banglanews, “On information police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.”
