DHAKA: Bangladesh welcomed the framework of agreement between United States and the Russian Federation signed on September 14 in Geneva over elimination of Syria’s Chemical Weapons.

In a press release, Bangladesh government hailed the framework of agreement for a complete and verifiable destruction of chemical weapons of Syria in the earliest and safest manner.

It said: “Bangladesh hopes that the initiative would contribute towards a diplomatic solution to the situation in the Syria ensuring the central role of the United Nations.”

The press release also said: “Bangladesh reiterates its call for a peaceful resolution to the Syrian Crisis reflecting the aspirations of the people of Syria upholding its national sovereignty, independence, national unity and integrity.”
