JHENAIDAH: Two workers of a rice mill were killed and two others injured in a boiler explosion in Narayanpur Treemohony area under Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Safiuddin, 35, and Aslam Hossain, 40.

Sources said due to lack of water the auto rice mill boiler blasted at around 10:00pm with a big bang that collapsed the mill building and adjacent establishment.

Meanwhile, the on-duty workers were crushed under the collapsed building of the rice mill.

Later, local villagers, police of rest house outpost and Jhenaidah fire service men joined in the rescue mission.

Jhenaidah Sadar upazila rest house police outpost investigation officer Manjurul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Jhenaidah fire service station officer Lutfar Rahman Khan told banglanews, “The injured were sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital initially. Later critically injured Abdullah was sent to Dhaka.”
