DHAKA: The High Court on Sunday issued a contempt of court rule to seven persons, including deputy commissioner of Chandpur district.

An HC bench comprising Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and ABM Altaf Hossain issued the rule.

Chandpur District Deputy Commissioner Ismail Hossain, Environment Department Director (Chittagong) Jafor Alam, Environment Department (Chandpur) Assistant Director Arefin Badol, UNO Shahinur Shahin Khan, Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mahbub Morshed, local resident Kamal Hossain and Sohag Patwary were made the respondents to the rule.

On July 26, the High Court directed not to occupy a pond in Chandpur after filing a writ petition in this regard. But, the encroachers violated the rule.
