PANCHAGARH: Four people were killed and one other injured as lightning struck them in Boshalopara upazila Atwari upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Mintu, 23, son of Islam, Paritosh Pal, 20, son of Chan Mia, Biren Singh, 35, son of Akalu Singh and Pohatu Pal, 40 of the same upazila.

Sources said that lightning struck them when they took shelter under a bamboo bush during a storm in the afternoon, leaving four dead on the spot and one injured.

The injured was rushed to Atari Hospital and later shifted to Thakurgaon Hospital, sources added.
