JESSORE: Local Awami League called indefinite hartal at Chaugachha upazila in the district from evening demanding arrest of the killers of Singhajhuli union parishad chairman Zillur Rahman Mintu.

Upazila Awami League president Shajahan Kabir announced the hartal on Thursday afternoon.

The hartal will continue until the killers are arrested, he added.

Earlier in the day, Singhajhuli union parishad chairman Zillur Rahman Mintu, also former District Chhatra League president, was shot dead at Chaugachha upazila of the district.

On July 24, 2002, former chairman of the same union, also Awami League leader Ashraf Hossain, was also shot dead by miscreants.

On September 23, an accused of the murder case Atiar Rahman, also Jubo Dal activist, was shot dead by miscreants. There might have linked the killing and counter killing.
