DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 in a drive held 13 people including a police officer from gambling game in capital’s Hazaribagh area on Thursday night.

Confirming the matter RAB-2 Major Rakib told banglanews, “A team of RAB-2 raided a house of Baddanagar area at around 11:45pm and held them red-handed. The elite force, however, recovered Yaba tablets and Tk1.5 lakhs.”

Later, a mobile court executive magistrate Anwar pasha awarded three months jail to a person while 15-day jail terms to 11 others.

Besides, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mainul was handed over to police station.

Dhanmondi police station Officer-in-Charge Ashok Chouhan told banglanews, “After fishing day’s duty, ASI Mainul came out of police station at around 8:00pm. Judicial action will be taken against him.”

The other detainees remained in Dhanmondi police station and will be sent to jail, he added.
