NETROKONA: Four people have been awarded lifetime imprisonment for their involvement in a gang rape of a girl after abduction.

Special Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression-2 Judge Abdul Hamid passed the verdict on Monday morning.

The convicts are Rayet Ali, Sultan Mia from Chandigar village and Jahar Ali, Azizul Islam from Telchi and Boalikanda village under Durgapur upazila.

The court also fined each of them Tk 1 lakh.

The court sources told banglanews that, on October 13, 2001, a 20-year-old girl was abducted and raped by five people at Durgapur upazila. The father of the victim filed a case against the people.

On October 17 in 2002, after investigation, police submitted charge-sheet over the case.

The court issued the verdict as the complaint against them was proved.
