2 killed; Bangladeshi worker hurt

DHAKA: Injured foreign worker Imran, 23, from Bangladesh has just been transferred to a High Dependency Ward in Singapore, waiting to be operated on.

Imran is one of the three seriously injured workers at the construction site for the future National Art Gallery. Two workers died from the accident on Monday morning.

His colleague Mofazzal, 23, also from Bangladesh told local media that Imran had stitches on his head and suffered a fracture at the back of his neck. About 10 co-workers were waiting outside the ward to see Imran on Monday afternoon.

Mofazzal, 23, from Bangladesh, a worker at the construction site, recalled the incident this morning to the Straits Times. He said he was walking towards the exit of the construction site when he heard a loud thud. He turned around and saw scaffolding collapsed behind him. He then ran out of the site along with 20 other workers,

Mofazzal later received a call to tell him that his friend Imran, 23, also from Bangladesh, was injured. He ran back in to look for Imran and saw him on the ground. Imran was working on the ground floor when the accident happened. Mofazzal said that Imran was still conscious and was bleeding from his head.
