Indo-Bangla artists’ group show

DHAKA: Originally from Goa, Antonio E Costa has lived and worked in Africa, Europe and Northern America, which makes his a very evolved international artistic style. Viewing the landscape from his window, he has abstracted the sun, sand and sky in soft, muted colours, creating a sophisticated composition with oils on canvas.

Pune-based Anu Kulkarni paints with acrylic on canvas, creating compositions in dark, brooding hues of urban landscapes completely abstracted.

Thane based Krishna Pulkundwar is a professor at the Sir J J School of Art. Combining his rural childhood memories of nature, with his current urban dwelling, he works with acrylic on canvas. Creating compositions of bright colours and strong contrasts, of abstracted nature viewed through the geometric shapes of urban windows and doors.

Pune based Pandurang Tathe uses acrylic on canvas to create almost monochromatic works, of strong shades to depict dwellings that are completely abstracted.

Bangladesh based Salahuddin Kazi, works with paint and collage on paper and takes an aerial view of ports, depicting the activity around these areas. Interesting compositions in bright colours and bold shapes, abstracted to show vivid landscapes .

Dacca based, Vinita Karim depicts as cities by the water — be it a sea or river port. Abstracted citiscapes created using acrylic paint with goldleaf on canvas make her works striking, with unusual colours and dramatic contrasts.
