RUPPUR, PABNA: The Premier of the country Sheikh Hasina termed Rooppur Nuclear Power Project a ‘milestone’ of science and technology.

She came up with assertion while delivering her speech as a chief guest at Rooppur Nuclear Project Field, at Rooppur of Pabna district on Wednesday after laid the foundation stone of the project.

Sheikh Hasina also conveyed gratitude to President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Director General of The State Atomic Energy Corporation Sergey Kirienko and the officials of International Atomic Energy Commission for their help to set up a nuclear power plant in Bangladesh.

This project was dreamt in 1969 with 200 megawatt but now it is coming in action after 53-year to avail 2000 megawatt in two phases with a very cheap rate.

This power plant is to build in 260 acres and 32 acres lands which were already acquired for the project and residential area.
