JS session resumes in afternoon

FROM JATIYA SANGSHAD BHABAN: The 19th session of the ninth parliament is set to resume on Thursday afternoon after a two-day break.

The sitting of the parliament is scheduled to begin at around 5:00 pm.

But opposition party MPs including BNP would not join the session, said sources concerned.

Earlier on September 12, the session of the Jatiya Sangsad began amid boycott of main opposition BNP.

Later, House Speaker Dr Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury adjourned the session till October 3.

On August 18, President M Abdul Hamid under section 72(1) of the Constitution summoned the session.

It is also the fourth session of the year and decision about poll-time government might be finalized in the session. The session will continue till October 24.

Present parliament started its journey on January 25 in 2009 and it would be dissolved on January 24 in 2014.

As per the constitution, the next parliamentary poll is to be held within three months of the present parliament expiry.
