MYMENSINGH: Two people were killed in a clash centering cutting trees at Trishal upazila of the district on Monday noon.

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 25 and Osman Gani, 32.

Local and police sources said that there was a longstanding dispute between Rafiqul Islam-Osman Gani group and Adam Ali-Abul Kalam group over trees.

At one stage of altercation over the same matter, opponent attacked Rafiqul Islam and Osman Gani with lethal weapons, leaving Rafiqul dead on the spot and Osman injured critically.

Osman succumbed to his injuries at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge of Trishal Thana Firoz Talukder said, “Police rushed to the spot and a case was filed in this connection.”
