CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court on Wednesday placed Mufti Harun Izhar, son of Hefajat-e-Islam Nayeb-e-Amir Mufti Izharul Islam, on a 10-day remand for police interrogation in two cases.

Mufti Harun’s body guard has been placed on 1-day remand and three others, arrested from Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa, on a 3-day remand each.

Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mashfiqul Islam passed the orders when police produced them before the court with 7-day remand plea.

Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) SM Nurul Huda told banglanews: “The court has granted 5-day remand in two cases each against Mufti Harun.”

On September 7, five students were injured, later two of them died under treatment, in a blast at Lalkhan Bazar Madrasa.

Director of the madrasa is Hefajat-e-Islam Nayeb-e-Amir Mufti Izharul Islam who was allegedly connected with Osma Bin Laden.

Madrasa authority demanded the blast was from laptop charger.

On the other hand, police, in a drive, recovered four fresh grenades and huge materials of preparing grenades and 18-bottle acid from the residence of Mufti Izhar.
