Seminar on GroMore held at SAU

DHAKA: A seminar on GroMore, an Integrated Crop Solution Program developed by Syngenta, was held here on Wednesday.

The seminar was jointly organized by multinational agribusiness company Syngenta Bangladesh Limited and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Research System (SAURES) at the campus.

Vice chancellor of SAU Professor M Shadat Ulla was the chief guest; while Professor Dr Alok Kumar Paul, Director (Research), Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Research System (SAURES), SAU, chaired the program.

Professor Dr M Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Professor Dr M Hazrat Ali Treasurer of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and M Sazzadul Hassan, Managing Director, Syngenta Bangladesh Limited were present as special guests.  

Mahbub Rahman, R&D-SD Lead of Syngenta presented the key note paper of the seminar. Nazmul Kabir, Crop Marketing Manager- Rice, Dr ABM Ziaur Rahman, Tegra Lead and Mohammad Habibullah, Assistant Manager, R&D Syngenta Bangladesh Limited and teachers and senior students of different departments were present in the seminar.

Mahbub Rahman in his presentation claimed that, GroMore, the integrated crop production technology for rice, can help to increase the yield of rice up to 30 percent and improve the grain quality up to 5 percent over conventional farmers’ practices.

The Vice chancellor of SAU Shadat Ullah, in his opening speech, expressed his hope that responsible companies like Syngenta should come out with new concepts and programs towards ensuring sustainable agriculture and safe and secured food for the nation.

Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan, appreciating Syngenta for its initiatives for developing Integrated Crop Solutions for rice, emphasized on incorporating appropriate soil fertility management program with it.
