KHULNA: Four workers died after inhaling toxic gas in a newly-built septic tank of under construction building in the city on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified Imran, 20, Nazrul, 22, Ramjan, 22 and local rescuer Shaon.

Local sources told banglanews that some workers fell sick while they were working at the septic tank of the building around 1:00pm.

Fire service men rescued them and sent them to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

But Irman and Nazrul died on way to hospital while Ramjan and Shaon breathed their last at the hospital.

Tension is spreading out in the area when angry locals and relatives tried to ransack the building.

Police forces were deployed at the spot following the incident to avert any untoward situation.

Despite several attempts over cell phone, Sonadanga Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Kamaruzzaman could not be contacted in this regard.
