BD man killed in BSF firing

LALMONIRHAT: A Bangladeshi youth was shot to death by Border Security Force (BSF) of India at Hatibanda frontier of the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shahinur Islam, 25, son of Mohammad Ali, hailed from Amjhol village of Gotamri union of the Upazila.

Sources said BSF Battalion-21 personnel opened fire aiming the victim at around 9:30am near the international pillar no 907 when he went there to bring spices, leaving him dead on the spot.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Lalmonirhat Battalion-15 Camp Commander Akbar Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Following the matter a letter was sent to BSF protesting the killing and for holding a flag meeting, he added.

Hatibanda Thana Officer-in-Charge Tapash Sarkar told banglanews, “Police came to know the matter by local sources but the body is yet to be recovered.”
