Lawmaker Haji Salim’s son Irfan Salim and some of his staff have been sued for reportedly assaulting a Navy official Wasif Ahmed Khan and his wife in Dhaka's Dhanmondi area.

The victim Navy official Lieutenant Wasif filed the case with Dhanmondi police station on Monday morning.

Dhanmondi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MD Ikram Ali confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

He said the case was filed against Irfan Salim, his bodyguard Mohammad Zahid, driver Mizanur Rahman, Haji Salim's Madina Group Protocol Officer AB Siddique Dipu and unnamed three others.

According to case statements, Wasif along with wife was going to his destination by a motorcycle Sunday evening. As the vehicle of Haji Salim hit the motorbike at Kalabagan intersection area, he stopped the vehicle and confronted its driver and passengers. 

Wasif also disclosed his identity being an officer of Bangladesh Navy.  At one stage, some people came out the vehicle and started beating Lt Wasif and his wife as she protested the incident. Other people and commuters rushed to the spot and captured a video of whole incident by mobile phone.The video went viral on social media.
