The National Zoo will be open for visitors, free of cost, on the first Sunday of every month to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The decision will come into effect from November 1 and continue till March 2021, according to an official release issued on Friday.
The Fisheries and Livestock Ministry has taken the decision as per the instruction from Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim.
School and college students will get priority for the free entry.
The ministry, however, asked the Department of Livestock Services to open the zoo with some precautionary measures including the corona health guidelines.
The National Zoo was shut down on March 20 this year due to Covid-19 outbreak.
