Enamul Hoque Chowdhury made chairman of PIB

Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury has been made Chairman of the newly formed board of directors of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).

This board will act for the next two years with immediate effect, according to a gazette notification issued by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

Prior joining the Daily Sun, Enamul Hoque Chowdhury served as Minister (Press) at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.

He was also a commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh.

In his long journalistic career, he worked for various national and international media, including Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Bangladesh Observer, Daily News (now defunct), The Independent, Desh TV, Reuters, and Bdnews24.com.

The 15-member board include representative from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (Not below the rank of Joint Secretary), Representative from the Ministry of Public Administration (Not below the rank of Joint Secretary), Representative from the Finance Division (Not below the rank of Joint Secretary), Representative from the Secondary and Higher Education Division (Not below the rank of Joint Secretary), Principal Information Officer, Press Information Department (PID), Chairman, Department of Mass Communication & Journalism, Dhaka University,  acting editor of the Daily Samakal Mustafiz Shafi, Editor-in-Chief of Bangladesh Post Sharif Shahabuddin, Chief Editor of DBC News Monjurul Islam, Treasurer of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Deep Azad, member of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Sheikh Mamunur Rashid, President of Jatiya Press Club Begum Farida Yasmin, Editor of Daily Desh Bartoman Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and director general of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).
