Five to die for killing Rajshahi college student 

A Rajshahi court on Tuesday sentenced five people to death for killing a college student in 2010.

The court also acquitted nine others of the charge, as they were not found guilty.

Judge of Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Anup Kumar pronounced the verdict in presence of the accused this afternoon.

The convicts are: Azizur Rahman alias Rajan, Sajjad Hossain alias Saju, Md Rinku alias Boya of Darikharbona of Rajshahi city, Ismail Hossain of Brambhapur village in Durgapur upazila and Mahabur Rashid alias Rentu of Madariganj village in Bagmara upazila.

The convicts stabbed Raju Ahmed, an HSC candidate of Daokandi Degree College in Durgapur, father of Essar Uddin of Hasnipur village in Bagmara upazila, to death over land dispute on March 15, 2010.
