DHAKA: Dr. Ainun Nishat, Vice-chancellor of BRAC University stressed the need to be careful about environment while developing the country’s energy sector.

“Modern technology should be used for permanent development of environment-friendly energy sector,” said the water expert said while inaugurating a workshop on Friday.

The two-day workshop on ‘Increasing capacity to develop energy sector’ was organised by the Institute of Governess Studies and School of Law of BRAC University in collaboration with USAID at a city hotel today.

He said the US government has announced a $ 80 billon project for finding renewable energy.

The government has distributed power saving Florescent bulb among the people at a free of cost, he added.

Among others, Director of Institute of Governess Studies Barrister Manzur Hasan, professor of School of law Shamsuddin Mahmud and coordinator of Increasing Capacity to Develop Energy Sector project Dr. Turin Afroze spoke at the workshop.
