At least three people, including a mother and her baby, were killed as a soil-laden tractor hit their motorbikes in front of Aman Cold Storage at Paba upazila of Rajshahi district.

The deceased were identified as Md Abdul Mannan, 48, of village Chhoto Belaldah under Manda upazila in Naogaon, Bithi, 33, of village Chandipur under Niamatpur and Mariam Jannat, 4, of the same village in Naogaon district.

Paba Police Station officer-in-charge Farid Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said the soil-laden tractor soil hit the two motorbikes on the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway near Aman Cold Storage around 10:00 am, leaving Mannan and Mariam dead on the spot.

On information, the fire service and civil defence rescuers rushed injured to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where Bithi succumbed to her injuries, he added.

The death toll might rise further, the OC added.
