At least three people, including a union parishad (UP) member, were killed after a truck hit their motorcycle in Birol upazila of Dinajpur early Monday (May 16).

The deceased were identified as Md Rakib Hossain, 25, a member of Mongalpur UP, Md Tamim, 14, of Ranisankail upazila in Thakurgaon, and Sadbin Osman, 24, of Borogurgola area in Dinajpur town.

Hafiz Md Raihan Ali, officer-in-charge of Mongalpur Police Investigation Centre in Birol, confirmed the matter.

Quoting locals, he said the truck heading towards Bochaganj hit their bike while the victims were going to Bochaganj from Dinajpur town at 12:30am, leaving the trio dead on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies and handed them to their family members, the official added.
