LALMONIRHAT: At least 30 passengers of Karatoa Express were injured as the hartal supporters pulled out slippers of rail track near Mahendranagar Station in the Sadar upazila of the district early Monday.

Sources said four bogies including the engine of the train were derailed at around 2.30am Monday.

Rail link of Lalmonirhat with rest part of the country halted, reported banglanews correspondent.

Divisional Traffic Surgeant of Lalmonirhat Mostafizur Rahman told banglanews, “The hartal supporters pulled out the slippers earlier on Sunday morning halting the rail link. But we repaired the track at 9.00am.”

“Again the pickets uprooted the slippers at the same spot at night. 30 passengers were injured while trying to dismount from the train quickly. We are working to resume the link as quickly as possible,” he added.
