A 25-kilometre tailback was created on Dhaka-Tangail- Bangabandhu bridge highway from early Thursday (July 7) causing immense sufferings to the Eid holidaymakers.
Homebound people were the worst sufferer of the traffic situation as thousands of vehicles carrying Eid holidaymakers have remained stuck on the highway.
Starting from the Bangabandhu bridge east, the tailback reached Rabna area of Tangail Sadar upazila.
Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station said that the huge rush of Dhaka-bound sacrificial animal-laden trucks and North Bengal-bound bus and others transports was the main cause of the tailback on the highway.
Law enforcers are working to resolve the traffic congestion on the highway, he said.
