Dr. Kazi Ertaza Hassan
Just before the holy Subeh Sadiq on July 16, 2007. Law enforcers, including the army, cordoned off a house owned by the eldest son-in-law of Bangabandhu, an internationally renowned nuclear scientist Dr. MA Wazed Miah. The house 'Sudhasadan' also named after Wazed Miah’s nick name 'Sudhamia'. Dr. Wazed Miah, who was known as 'Sudhamia' to his close relatives and family members.
Similarly, on August 15 in 1975, some retired and serving army personnel assassins backed by Mushtaq-Zia surrounded Bangabandhu’s No. 32 residence before Subeh Sadiq, who carried out a hellish massacre there before dawn. Bangabandhu and his family were martyred. Fortunately, his two daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana survived as they were staying abroad that time.
The reason behind the siege of Sudhasadan by members of the army and law enforcers was for arresting Awami League president, Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina.
The arrest was made to stop and obstruct the ongoing movement for the political and economic emancipation of Bengalis and to establish Pakistan style permanent army rule through depoliticisation. To hinder the new journey of building the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream. To turn Bangladesh into an ineffective state, Bangabandhu was also assassinated for the same ill motives. Domestic and foreign plotters knew very well that if they could not deduct her from politics, they would not be able to fulfill their evil desires. That’s why they arrested her.
July 16 of 2007 is a black day in the history of Bengalis. At that time, an evil force called 'caretaker' was chocking dear Bangladesh. Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina was continuing her struggle at that time under the blocked democracy. Terrorists, in the name of ‘caretaker’ who seized the country through One-Eleven, took the strategy of arrest to stop her.
In the busy city of Dhaka, it was 3:45 am. Before sunrise, the joint forces surrounded the Sudhasadan—house of Sheikh Hasina. It was raining heavily that time. Ignoring the rain at 6 in the morning, the joint forces entered Sudhasadan. They arrested Awami League president Sheikh Hasina at 8:32 am. Bangabandhu’s daughter performed Fajr prayers earlier. She wanted to know why she was being arrested also wanted to know if military rule had been imposed in the country. The members of the joint forces could not give any answer.
Later, Sheikh Hasina was taken to the CMM court in Dhaka first. As per the government's instructions, she was denied bail and was sent to a temporary sub-jail in the parliament building. Earlier, standing at CMM court, the daughter of father of the nation delivered a 36-minute speech against the unjust of the caretaker government.
