CHITTAGONG: Main opposition BNP called dawn-to-dusk hartal in the port city for Sunday for protesting the arrest of Jubo Dal vice President Abul Hasem Bakkar.
Chittagong city unit BNP President Ameer Khasru Mahmud Chowdhwry confirmed the matter to banglanews on Wednesday afternoon.
He said, “Awami League initiated tyrannical attitudes to BNP by filing false cases and assaults and Abul Hasem Bakkar was arrested in their continuous repressive motives.”
CTG BNP also will stage a protest rally in front of party office on Thursday.
Earlier, vice-president and city Zuba dal leader Abul Hasem Bakkar was arrested near Enayet Bazar intersection under Kotwali Thana at around 9.30am Wednesday, the last day of 84-hour countrywide hartal called by 18-Party alliance.
