GAZIPUR: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by Kapasia Upazila unit BNP, is underway in the upazila on Sunday amid stray incidents of picketing.

Kapasia Upazila BNP general secretary Sakhawat Hossain Selim alleged that Chhatra League attacked our peaceful procession on Saturday afternoon. In protest against the attack, we called the day-long hartal for Sunday.

Meanwhile, 14/15 people were injured including district BNP vice-president Khandakar Azizur Rahman Pera and Sanmania Union Parisad Chairman Siraj Uddin.

Kapasia police station Officer-in-Charge Ahasan Ullah told banglanews, “Police have been kept on alert position to face any untoward situation.”
