BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the US report has given accurate information about Bangladesh's democracy and human rights situation.
He also said that the country is ashamed of the report which was released by the US on human rights.
After the publication of the report, Awami League leaders are talking like themselves, he added.
He made this comment today at a memorial meeting on the occasion of the 16th death anniversary of former BNP secretary general KM Obaidur Rahman at Engineers Institution Auditorium in the capital.
Fakhrul alleged that since coming to power, Awami League has destroyed all democratic institutions by establishing 'Baksal'.
They are realizing the old dream of establishing a one-party rule, he added.
On March 20, in the report of the US Department of State said that Bangladesh's 2018 parliamentary election, where Sheikh Hasina's Awami League won a third consecutive term, was neither free nor fair.
The US Department of State on Monday released the 2022 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, an annual report required by US law.
