NARSINGDI: Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were killed in an attack launched by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) men in Ghorashal Municipal area on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Anwar Hossain Anu, 26, member of municipal unit BCL and Shamsul Haque Masum, 27, member of Polash  thana unit BCL.

Witnesses said more than hundred BCL men are staging a rally protesting the 71-hour blockade called by 18-party alliance in front of Sohag Cinema Hall of Ghorashal at around 8:30pm.

At one stage, some Chhatra Dal men attacked the rally, leaving seven including Polash thana BCL general secretary Monir Hossain and activists Anu and Masum injured critically.

Of them, Anu died on the way to Palash Health Complex while Masum succumbed to his injuries on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Narsingdi BCL general secretary Shamim Newaz confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Polash Thana officer-in-charge Mamunur Rashid Mondol said on information, police force was sent to spot.
