CHITTAGONG: Chhatra Dal, the student wing of opposition BNP, called dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district for Monday protesting the arrest of its acting president.

City Chhatra Dal assistant general secretary SM Salauddin made the announcement in a protest rally in support of blockade in front of Nasimon Bhaban in the port city on Sunday morning

Detective Branch (DB) police held Bajlul Karim Chowdhury Abed, acting president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of opposition BNP, on Saturday afternoon.

A team of DB police detained the JCD leader from city’s Elephant Road area while they were preparing for a procession centering BNP-led 18-party alliance called 83-hour blockade.
