MEHERPUR: Miscreants chopped a leader of ruling Awami League to death in Bashbaria area of Gangni Upazila of the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin, 38, Ward no1 unit Awami League general secretary.

Family sources said that the victim went missing from Tuesday morning and at one stage of searching, his dead body was found lying on the ground beside the Eidgah in the area at around 2:00am.

On information, police recovered the body and sent to police station.

Confirming the matter, Gangni thana Officer-in-Charge Masudul Alam told banglanews, “The body bore injury mark on his head.”
