EC asks AL to postpone Jan 2 rally

DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) has asked Awami League not to hold their pre-scheduled rally ahead of 10th parliamentary polls at Suhrawardy Udyan on January 2.

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin came up with the plea on Tuesday afternoon while advisors of the party HT Imam and Dr Moshiur Rahman visited EC office.

According to the election code of conduct, no political party can use more than three mikes and hold a meeting in a place bigger than 400 square feet.

The AL leaders confirmed the matter to banglanews after the meeting with the election commission.
