DHAKA: Ruling Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Thursday said Khaleda Zia is not the opposition leader anymore from now on.
The AL lawmaker came up with the assertion while talking to journalists after taking oath at Parliament Bhaban in the afternoon.
He said, “The ninth parliament does not exist anymore. So, Khaleda is not the opposition leader as a member of parliament any longer.”
In response to a question, he said the government is elected for next five years. But the premier of the country can decide for the next election, if needed, before the tenure the government, he added.
Ashraful also said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was urged to sit for talks what she refused and chose the way of violence.
