A Dhaka court today (May 19) sent Ishraque Hossain, member of the International Affairs Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, to jail in a case filed with Paltan Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ash Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order after Ishraque surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.

Taherul Islam Tawhid, lawyer of the petitioner confirmed the matter.

According to the case statement, on October 28, 2023, during a protest programme, BNP leaders and activists gathered illegally in various parts of the capital city to protest the national elections, where they exploded bombs, obstructed police duties, and assaulted police officers with the intent to kill, resulting in injuries.

Multiple cases were filed in different police stations based on these allegations.
