JOYPURHAT: An eight-hour hartal is underway in Panchbibi upazila of the district in protest of filing ‘false case’ on Saturday with the thana against 18-party leaders and activists.

The hartal started from 6:00am and will be ended at 2:00pm.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Panchbibi Thana Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal told banglanews that additional number of law endorcers was deployed in the area to thwart any untoward situation.

A case was filed on Saturday against 18-party leaders and activists on charge of cutting tendons of a Chhatra League leader recently.
