Three people, including Awami League leader and former MP from Chattogram-6 Fazle Karim Chowdhury, were detained at the border while attempting to enter India illegally.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained them from the Akhaura border.

Md. Shariful Islam, the Public Relations Officer of BGB Headquarters, confirmed the matter on Thursday.

He said, "Fazle Karim Chowdhury and two others were detained by BGB while trying to enter India through the Akhaura border in Brahmanbaria illegally."

The other detained individuals are- former UP member from Nurpur area in Akhaura Md. Hannan Molla and local resident Md. Naim Chowdhury.

The process of handing over the detained individuals to the Akhaura police station is underway, Shariful Islam added.
