Former minister for environment, forest and climate change Saber Hossain Chowdhury was arrested in Dhaka on Sunday (Oct 6) evening.

A team of the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police raided the former minister’s residence in Gulshan and apprehended him, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

Saber Hossain, accused in a number of cases, was taken to the DB office, he added.

He was elected an MP from the Dhaka-9 constituency in the last general election.

Saber had served as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board between 1996 and 2001.
