The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has fixed November 10 for hearing an appeal of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia against the High Court's 10 years' jail sentence in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Khaleda Zia's lawyer Barrister Kaysar Kamal confirmed the matter.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Md Rezaul Haque set the date on Sunday.
Khaleda Zia was imprisoned on February 8, 2018, after being sentenced to five years by a special court in Dhaka in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
Following an appeal by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the High Court increased her sentence to 10 years on October 30.
In a separate development, the High Court on Sunday permitted the BNP Chairperson to prepare the paper books for the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case at her own expense. This step is part of her efforts to pursue an appeal challenging her conviction and the seven-year prison sentence in that case.
