DHAKA: One cannot expect a political party to arrange successful movements on the roads with barristers-advocates-doctors-bureaucrats-businessmen at its leading positions.
Political leaders are necessary to meet demands through movements. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will not be successful in movements without reforming its leadership structure.
Raihan Mahmud, a resident of Dhanmondi area of the city, came up with the observations above in the ‘Public Opinion Program’ on ‘What Type of BNP do you want?’ arranged by banglanews on Thursday.
Raihan said reasons of BNP’s failure in movements will be evident if we look at the backgrounds of the party’s standing committee members, vice-chairmen, adviser to the chairperson, joint secretary general, executive committee members and other committees.
Most of the top leaders are barristers-advocates-doctors-bureaucrats-businessmen, he added.
He also asked why they would come down on the streets leaving their professions.
He advised to sack the part-time politicians from the helm.
