The BNP has filed two complaints with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), alleging the killing of 2,276 of its leaders and activists in crossfires and the enforced disappearance of 153 others across the country between 2008 and August 5, 2024.
Md. Salauddin Khan, coordinator of the BNP’s case data information cell, lodged the complaints on Thursday at the prosecution wing of the tribunal, naming former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and various law enforcement agencies as accused.
Advocate Nurul Islam, another member of the case cell, was also present during the filing.
The complaints allege that BNP leaders and activists were targeted and killed in crossfires under the Awami League government as part of an attempt to eliminate the BNP.
They also include a list of these killings at the district and upazila levels.
Among the 153 individuals who were forcibly disappeared, notable names include former BNP leaders Ilias Ali and Chowdhury Alam.
The complaints identify Sheikh Hasina as the primary accused, along with certain members of law enforcement agencies.
