MONGLA: The voting in Chila Union is underway in by-election of the Union Parisad of Mongla Upazila of Khulna from Saturday morning.

The voting started from 8:00am in the union.

There are 12,138 voters who are exercising their franchise to choose their chairman in the by-poll where male voter is 5,943 and female 6,169.

Mongla’s Chila Union Parisad Chairman Sheikh Mozaharul Islam has passed away recently and the post became vacant.

Returning Officer Sheikh Jakaria told banglanews, “Following the election, all types of preparation has been taken.”

Coast guard, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Police forces were deployed in nine vote centers of the union.
