A delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) participated in the National Prayer Breakfast event in Washington DC on Wednesday (local time).
The delegation included BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Barrister Zaima Rahman, acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's representative.
During the event, they met with former South Carolina Governor David Beasley, a key figure in the National Prayer Breakfast Foundation.
The participation of Zaima Rahman, granddaughter of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and current BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia, marked a significant moment in Bangladeshi politics, representing her father at this international event.
Beasley, a former chairman of the Republican Governors Association and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 2020, is a key figure in global humanitarian aid.
He previously served as executive director of the UN’s World Food Program and is among President Donald Trump's potential candidates to head the World Bank.
