The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has set March 2 to hear appeals by the state and ACC against the High Court verdict acquitting BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.
The four-member bench, led by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, fixed the date following a plea by ACC lawyer Ashif Hassan.
On November 27 last year, the High Court scrapped the lower court's 2018 verdict that sentenced Khaleda to seven years in prison for abusing power to raise funds for the trust from unknown sources.
The ACC filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station on August 8, 2011, accusing Khaleda and three others of corruption.
