No radical change in BNP soon

DHAKA: A radical change in the central committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is not imminent but a minor change may come in standing committee and executive committee.

A competent source from the party made the disclosure.

Sources said party’s chairperson would not take steps to initiate changes in the central committee, including the secretary general but she was thinking about giving some responsibilities to former student leaders.

Central leaders claimed that they successfully staged demonstrations before and after the January 5 general elections.

Besides, party leaders proved their sincerity to the party and ideologies of late President Ziaur Rahman by not joining in the BNF leaving BNP, thinks party chairperson Khaleda Zia, sources added.

However, a minor change may come in the next council, hinted competent party sources.

Sources said news faces may come in the party’s standing committee member. A few numbers of positions in standing committee of the party have already become vacant due to death and illness.

Besides, Sadek Hossain Khoka might be placed in the standing committee after removal from the committee of the Dhaka city, sources said.

Senior leaders—Abdullah Al Noman and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury--might be seen in the positions.

Apart from these, Khaleda Zia is satisfied to youth leaders as they played strong role in the recent movements. So, they might be seen in the importance posts and positions of the party.
