BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called for the consolidation of anti-fascist national unity and urged the interim government to uphold impartiality to prevent any group from gaining undue political advantages.
Speaking at a press conference today in Gulshan, Fakhrul expressed concerns that the interim government seemed to prioritize political opportunists over elected politicians, undermining the democratic nature of the state.
He said that elected parliamentarians must play a central role in constitutional reforms.
He also said the recent mass uprising in Bangladesh as a continuation of the fight against fascism, which aimed to establish a just, democratic, and equal society.
Fakhrul said that national unity was essential for the country’s progress and that maintaining this unity should be a core political value.
The interim government must remain neutral and refrain from supporting any political faction, he added.
