MYMENSINGH: Sergeant (retd) Maqbul Hossain, the president of Gauripur municipality BNP, has been expelled on charge of violating the party discipline.

A press release signed by BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday said that the local leader was expelled from the party for his involvement in the activities which go against the party interest.

Upazila BNP additional convener Habibul Islam Khan Shahid confirmed this matter to banglanews.

Party sources said Maqbul would fight with BNP nominee Ahammed Tayebur Rahman Hiron in the upcoming third phase of upazil elections.
